Early Evening Walk - Macon, France

Delightful Old Town, worth a day visit.

A very busy day with a morning visit to Tournus, followed with an afternoon tour to Chateau Cormatin and then a drive to Macon to catch up with our riverboat which had arrived earlier that afternoon.

Dinner on board and then Jill and I decided we would take a walk through Macon. Most people stayed onboard as the free drinks were continuing into the night. I thought we should take the opportunity to see some of Macon by night - no regrets.

The centre of Macon is an easy walk with plenty of character buildings to see. Some were open, however at night we would not have had time to go inside.

There were some good looking restaurants and bars, however we had no need to eat or drink after having dinner on the riverboat.

The ideal time to visit Macon would be during daylight, however we were both pleased with our night visit. The purpose of our riverboat cruise was to visit and enjoy an area of France we had not previously visited. I think we were the "winners" as we were able to see some of the town and also enjoy the remainder of the evening onboard - the bar and coffee machine were still open!
